Our Bakery

"Let them eat cake"  spoken by the French rulers in 1789 upon learning that the common folk had no bread.  YOKOHAMA's promise is to never subject people to this ever again. Let there always be bread. ;)

Japanese bread has a unique and intricate history, having evolved to become an essential part of the Japanese diet. Japan was traditionally known for its delicious rice. After the Second World War, due to food shortages, bread steadily becomes a staple of the Japanese diet. Over time, culinary experimentation flourished, with the creation of different flavors of bread, including the wildly popular Custard Bun, Raisin Pan, Corn Bread, and many more, which are all now part of Japanese cuisine. Yokohama was the first port opened in Japan after over 250 years of isolation and is often considered the birthplace of Japanese bread culture.
